Description for the presentation 2015-2016 in the National Museum of Modern Art

For his exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 1959, Constant produced some thirty “spatial constructions”, drawing on his encounter with Guy Debord and a Situationism concerned with the “construction of situations”. Part sculpture, part architectural model, Toren (Tower) presents itself as a “dynamic labyrinth”, its organisation in rectangular planes recalling the Neo-Plasticism of the 1920s.
