Description for the presentation 2016-2017 in the National Museum of Modern Art

16:32, 26.05 is one of three chandeliers bought by the artist that used to hang in the ballroom of the Hôtel Majestic where the Paris Accords were signed between Vietnam and the United States on 27 January 1973. This ready-made piece can be seen as a relic of a failed process. The ostentatious luxury of the object mimics the vain pomp of the diplomatic occasion, indicting the West’s efforts to “enlighten” the rest of the world. A silent and morbid witness in its location of origin, the chandelier is hung about with failure.
