Description for the presentation 2013 in the National Museum of Modern Art

Katinka Bock chooses her material for its ability to produce energy, represent the passing of time, and question the perception of space. She gives shape to refined works composed of salvaged elements and organic materials (wood, tar, stone, newspapers, salt, water) awaiting transformation, and subject to tense, precarious situations. Umland moves like a carousel and resembles a person carrying a number of fragile objects in equilibrium on their arms, head and feet.This set-up evokes the thought process at work within the studio space.
