Established in 1903 and granted charitable status in 1924, in 1946 the Société des amis du musée du Luxembourg became the Société des amis du musée national d’art moderne, and in 2017 the Friends of the Centre Pompidou. Now more than a hundred years old, it is more than ever engaged with the art of its time, with an active programme of acquisitions and activities.
Its goal is to help expand and enrich the Centre Pompidou’s holdings of modern and contemporary art.
With its substantial membership and generous donors, the Society is able every year to purchase major works on behalf of the musée national d’art moderne, and its contributes to the development of the Centre Pompidou and the expansion of its presence in France and abroad.
The Friends of the Centre Pompidou is a non-profit organisation with charitable status.

The Friends of the Centre Pompidou are the first patrons of the Musée National d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou and for 100 years have conducted major activities of patronage on behalf of the national collections. The members are invited to participate in the enrichment and dissemination of the collections of one of the most important museums in the world. They benefit from an extensive monthly programming, as well as special opportunities to meet artists and influential figures in the world of contemporary and modern art.
The Friends of the Centre Pompidou offer different categories of membership, according to each member’s desires and involvement.
