The visits

Visits with a speaker are intended for students at all levels, from kindergarten to high school. They invite to approach the works of the museum and exhibitions from fundamental notions in the learning of the language of creation and are associated with the teaching themes addressed in the school curricula.

Visits to temporary exhibitions are open to schoolchildren on an open house basis.

The activities

The Centre Pompidou, which is open to 20th and 21st century creation, offers many workshops and tours for the youngest to familiarise themselves with modern and contemporary art. The activities take place in two stages: a time of questioning, manipulation and experimentation leading to individual or collective achievements, a time of discovery of the works in the museum to establish connections and invite students to dialogue.

Workshops

The artistic practice workshops take place at the Atelier des enfants, a place of reflection and creation. The workshops offered for kindergartens and elementary schools are all new keys, forged by children guided by visual artists, to enter and immerse themselves in the works.

Circuits

For toddlers, in nursery schools or kindergartens, the tours in the museum, animated by actors, musicians or visual artists, awaken the five senses to encourage exchange and questioning around the permanent collections.

Active visits

The Centre Pompidou offers ever more innovative themes, constantly seeking to adapt to students' new cultural practices.

The Centre Pompidou invites you to explore the most demanding forms of thinking and modern and contemporary creation in total freedom. The tours and circuits on offer reflect the requirements of higher teaching. The aim is to introduce students to multidisciplinary creation and make them more aware through educating the eye.

THE "MUST-SEE" ONES

Through four types of didactic and chronological visits, the Centre Pompidou offers, around a selection of major works from its incomparable collection of modern and contemporary art, an approach centred on the eye in order to discover the major movements in the history of art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

  • From modern to contemporary: A panorama of art from 1905 to the present day.
  • Les modernes, from 1905 to 1960: A visit through the great figures of 20th century art.
  • Contemporaries, from 1960 to the present: To thwart clichés about contemporary art.
  • Architectural visit to the Centre Pompidou: Discover the history and architecture of the building.
