As part of the Constellation programme unfolding throughout the Centre Pompidou’s renovation period, the Musée National d’Art Moderne once again partners with the Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national, the Cnap, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs to present an exhibition devoted to textiles, drawing on the national design collections.

The program

Suivez le fil !
Design & textile

27 June – 31 October 2026

Drawing on around one hundred works by some forty artists from the national design collections, "Suivez le fil!" ("Follow the Thread!") explores the distinctive role of textiles in the history of design. Bridging craft and technology, ancestral gestures and contemporary utopias, the exhibition reflects the aesthetic and technical transformations of the 20th century, while also nurturing the most radical contemporary experiments.

From pioneering figures of the modern avant-garde such as Sonia Delaunay and Eileen Gray to contemporary designers including Pauline Esparon and Jeanne Goutelle, among others, the exhibition highlights the essential contribution of women designers to the evolution of design.

Exhibition coorganized by la Métropole de Toulon Provence Méditerranée, le Centre Pompidou, les Manufactures nationales, Sèvres & Mobilier national, le Cnap and le musée des Arts décoratifs.

The partners

Hôtel des Arts TPM – Art Center

Located in the heart of the city of Toulon and built at the beginning of the 20th century, this former seat of the sub-prefecture—later the Hôtel de la Présidence of the Var Departmental Council—has housed an art center since 1999, the Hôtel des Arts, in memory of its original designation.

The Hôtel des Arts, an art center of the Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis and one of the region’s major cultural venues, is dedicated to showcasing contemporary art, with a particular focus on design and interior architecture. With 400 m² of exhibition space, the center is committed to democratizing artistic practices and multiplying initiatives to make art accessible to a wide audience through outreach activities, guided tours, creative workshops, and cultural events.

Its program is driven by synergies and cross-disciplinary perspectives. Partnerships are regularly formed between the Hôtel des Arts and local and national cultural institutions. Among its key collaborators: the Villa Noailles in Hyères (a nationally recognized art center), the Centre Pompidou, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and the Mobilier National, which each summer present unique and remarkable exhibitions based on their design collections.
