Vatamanu et Tudor

Mona Vatmnu and Florin Tudor have worked together in Bucharest since 2000. Their approach re-situates history in the present day, in the form of performed reconstructions and symbolic environments. The two artists commentate on situations, and denounce the ambivalence, repression and inhibitions of the former Eastern bloc. The duo nurture an intense interest in architecture as a depository of memory, examining the urban manifestations of wounds in post-Communist countries. Their songs and videos provide an archaeological statement on the ruins of the socialist utopia, and a national heritage destroyed by the dictator Film show and presentation by Mona Vatãmãnu and Florin Tudor.
