Ericka Beckman

Influenced by traditional animation techniques and virtual worlds, American artist Ericka Beckman has made an experimental fictional film, Hiatus (1999-2014). Her heroine, Madi, is thrown into the dangerous fairy-tale meanderings of an interactive games platform, through which she travels by means of an avatar called Wanda. Presented as an installation, the film is the starting point for a 3D environment offering the teenage audiences of Studio 13/16 the chance to interact with the journey and fate of the characters through workshops.
