The Book Machine judging panel awards its prizes

11 Mar 2013

The event is over

One of the very secondary effects of May 1968 was to be the disappearance of school prize-givings in France and the award of prizes by the Venice Biennale. While the latter were reintroduced in the 1980s, it is to be feared that the former will never return. It was with these developments in mind and, too, the New Festival spirit, that BOOK MACHINE (Paris) decided to award prizes to recognise those who, artists or not, have come into the Forum to make an artists’ book and have made original contributions. The judges, who all work in the art world, not only have to judge, but also invent, the prizes (which are unique because they are awarded on only one occasion) and justify their choices. This judges’ day promises to be like a collective performance.
