Show
Fanny de Chaillé
Je suis un metteur en scène japonais
8 - 9 Mar 2013

The event is over

Drawing inspiration from the traditional codes of Japanese puppet theatre, Bunraku, and cleverly redirecting them, Fanny de Chaillé stages the illusions and tricks that form the basis of the theatrical show. In Bunraku, the theatrical form is practically displayed: it shows the operators manipulating and yet one is under the spell of the tricks and illusions of the stage. Fanny de Chaillé reworks these theatrical traditions by introducing minor but nonetheless crucial modifications: the puppet is not a doll but a real live dancer, the musician is not playing the shamisen but the ukulele, and the narrator does not tell a legendary story but takes up Minetti, a text by Thomas Bernhardt.
