To do away with the "paralysed plan of the stone house", Le Corbusier developed the Modulor in 1945, a system of proportions that was both organic and mathematical and the fruit of research carried out over 20 years. He designed it based on the measurements of the human body. Abandoning pre-established geometric forms, his architecture brought into play a multiplicity of corporal measurements that were in harmony with one another.
