A frightening and magnificent homage to his late friend, this monumental painting by Dado summons up a cortege of monsters in a desolate landscape.
Marked in his childhood by the atrocities of the Second World War, Dado painted nightmarish visions where a multitude of misshapen beings are moving about in a decaying setting. ln common with Outsider Art, these works share a taste for assemblage and accumulation in which the beautiful and the morbid go hand in hand. Here, Dado asserts his affinity for the universe of Bernard Réquichot, an artist friend whose suicide in 1961 moved him deeply.
