Founded by the ADIAF and organised in partnership with the Centre Pompidou since the beginning, the Marcel Duchamp Prize is one of the benchmark awards in the contemporary art world. Since its creation in 2000, the Marcel Duchamp Prize has celebrated many artists who have become major figures of the international scene. The renovation of the historic Centre Pompidou building made it necessary to find a building “in constellation”. From 2025 to 2029, the Marcel Duchamp Prize exhibitions will therefore take place at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
The four nominees for the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2025 are:
• Bianca Bondi, born in 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa – lives and works in Paris.
Represented by Mor Charpentier gallery (Paris).
• Eva Nielsen, born in 1983 in Lilas, lives and works in Paris.
Represented by Galerie Peter Kilchmann (Paris / Zurich) and The Pill gallery (Paris / Istanbul).
• Lionel Sabatté, born in 1975 in Toulouse – lives and works in Paris and Los Angeles.
Represented by Ceysson & Bénétière (Paris, New York, Tokyo, Koerich, Lyon, Geneva, Saint-Étienne, Pannery).
• Lei Xie, born in 1983 in China – lives and works in Paris.
Represented by Semiose gallery (Paris).
The Marcel Duchamp Prize is also a comprehensive support scheme for artists. Around 50 exhibitions focused on winning artists and nominees have been organised on the French scene by the ADIAF, with around 20 international ones supported by the Institut Français. Residencies are also available for the nominees thanks to partnerships set up by the ADIAF, in France with the Sèvres-Manufacture and national museums, and in the USA with Villa Albertine.
The winning artist of the 2025 edition will be announced on Thursday 23 October 2025 during the Semaine de l‘Art at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
The international jury is composed of directors of artistic institutions, collectors and two artists.
Exhibition presented at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris as part of a partnership between the Centre Pompidou, the ADIAF and Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris / Paris Musées.
