International Philanthropy and Major Donors

Lasting commitments shaping the future of Centre Pompidou

Supporting Centre Pompidou means committing to a resolutely contemporary vision of philanthropy by championing artistic creation, a fresh perspective on the national collection, and access to art for all.

Centre Pompidou brings together an international community of major patrons, individual donors, and philanthropic foundations bound by a shared passion for modern and contemporary art, social responsibility, and an enduring commitment to artistic excellence, multidisciplinary research, and cultural innovation. Every philanthropic partnership is tailor-made and includes benefits and engagement options developed according to your interests and the nature of your contribution (financial donation or gift of art).

Legacy and gift of art

The generosity of committed artists and patrons has been paramount in building Centre Pompidou's collection. Contribute in turn to its enrichment by making a donation during your lifetime or within the framework of an estate transmission. Bring your works into Europe's premier modern and contemporary collection, spanning over 150,000 works across all creation domains: fine arts (painting, sculpture, installation, photography, graphic art), architecture, design, audiovisual, with numerous experimental films and new media.

Every donation or legacy proposal undergoes careful examination to ensure its interest for Centre Pompidou's collection and to reinforce major axes of ongoing research and acquisitions.

Wherever you are

French, European, and international donors have various tools to make their contributions, which may grant certain tax advantages depending on their country of residence. Discover which options apply to your situation, and contact us to discuss your gift or donation.

Centre Pompidou applies the ethical principles set out in the Ethical Charter of Cultural Patronage of the Ministry of Culture.

If you reside in France, you can benefit from a 66% tax reduction on the sum donated or the value of the work, up to 20% of taxable income (Article 200 of the General Tax Code).
If the 20% taxable income ceiling is exceeded, the excess donation value can be carried forward for the next five years and still qualify for the tax reduction under the same conditions.

You can also deduct 75% of donations from real estate wealth tax, up to a 50,000-euro tax reduction, according to Article 978 of the General Tax Code. Centre Pompidou is one of the eligible organizations for this mechanism.

You can also benefit from other tax advantages through dation or bequests, such as exemption from inheritance tax or transfer duties.

European residents can support the Centre Pompidou with an advantageous tax framework via Transnational Giving Europe (TGE). In this case, the applicable tax reduction is determined by the tax law of the country of residence.
However, as an exception, patrons subject to the real estate wealth tax in France can benefit from a tax reduction equivalent to 75% of their donation, capped at 50,000 euros.
