CHANEL and Centre Pompidou have announced a signifcant partnership to support Centre Pompidou’s next phase of renovation and to advance its mission as a leading public institution for modern and contemporary culture.
The five-year commitment will strengthen Centre Pompidou’s work across access, scholarship, and the preservation of public knowledge, contributing to its long-term stewardship of cultural memory, and ensuring that its resources remain available to future generations of artists, students, thinkers, and the public.
Home to Europe’s largest collection of modern and contemporary art, Centre Pompidou plays a vital role in cultural and civic life in France and in the global cultural landscape.
The partnership continues CHANEL’s more than century-long commitment to arts patronage, including its longstanding sup-port of other leading French institutions, in addition to its global network of Art Partners supported through the CHANEL Culture Fund, from the National Portrait Gallery in London, to the Power Station of Art in Shanghai.
Since 2019 CHANEL and Centre Pompidou have collaborated on a series of initiatives, guided by a shared commitment to cross-disciplinary practice, research, and support of both French heritage and contemporary art. In 2023, the CHANEL Culture Fund and Centre Pompidou commenced “Assemble”, an initiative to strengthen representation in the collection and programmes, and in 2025 signed a three-year partnership to bolster the Pompidou’s acquisitions of Chinese art. Like CHANEL, Centre Pompidou is rooted in France but is committed to the global exchange of ideas, through international partnerships and locations.
Yana Peel, President of Arts, Culture & Heritage at CHANEL, said:
"Centre Pompidou is both a defining institution in rance and a global platform for the exchange of ideas. This long-term partnership reflects CHANEL’s commitment to the enduring vitality of the museum. Building on years of collaboration, from funding acquisitions to programmes spanning disciplines, we honour an institution that continuously expands how culture is produced, studied, and shared.”
Laurent Le Bon, President of Centre Pompidou, said:
“With the renovation of our Parisian building, Centre Pompidou is undergoing a true metamorphosis. The partnership uniting Centre Pompidou and CHANEL is far more than a collaboration: it is a natural meeting of two leading cultural forces that share the same demand for excellence and a bold vision of creation. Through its heritage and commitment to art and culture, CHANEL embodies values that deeply resonate with those of Centre Pompidou. We are deeply grateful to CHANEL for its generous support, visionary engagement, and enthusiastic commitment alongside us at this pivotal moment in our history. Together, we strengthen our ability to support artists, innovate, and make culture accessible to all.”
