This chronicle of life on a 1980s housing estate in the Paris suburbs presents Madjid, the son of immigrants and the eldest child in a large family that is supported entirely by the mother and her best friend Pat.
After a realistic presentation of the situation, the film switches to a dreamlike atmosphere and then returns to reality with several very powerful near-melodramatic scenes.
