Divisé en dix courts chapitres et transcendé par six versions d’une chanson

populaire angolaise intitulée «Muxima», le film nous plonge dans la vie et

l’histoire angolaise ; des ruines coloniales portugaises à l’immense pauvreté

de ce pays riche en pétrole. Divided into ten short chapters and with six

versions of the popular Angolan song, “Muxima”, running through the whole, the

film plunges us into Angolan life and history: from the Portuguese colonial

ruins to the poverty of this oil-rich country.

Pour préparer une adaptation de l’Orestie d’Eschyle, Pasolini voyage en

Afrique. De retour à Rome, il montre ses notes filmées à des étudiants

africains et leur demande leur avis. Musique de Gato Barbieri.

To prepare his adaptation of Aeschylus’ Oresteia, Pasolini travelled to

Africa. On his return to Rome, he shows his film notes to some African students

and asks for their reactions. Music composed by Gato Barbieri.
