It took Paul Sharits three years to make S: TREAM: S: S: ECTION: S: S: ECTION: S: S: ECTIONED (1968-1971), a film designed by the American artist as an exploration of the materiality of the film reel, based on the "duality of the unwinding of the illusion and the real unwinding of the film through the projector". A synthesis of the contradictory elements and effects typical of its cinematographic nature, this film – divided into three sections of exactly the same length – leads us to radically reconsider the act of viewing.
