Spectres17 Oct 2011
The event is over
Sven Augustijnen lives and works in Brussels, the heart of his artistic career. The main subject of his films is often a reality as a motor of fiction. Spectres is constructed as a journey, the hero of which is Jacques Brassinne from La Buissière. All at once, he plays a guide, a commentator and a symbolic figure in this political and humanitarian "thriller" that leads the spectator from the hasty decision to grant Congo its independence, the transfer of power, and the subsequent conflicts, to the execution of Patrice Lamumba. Sven Augustijnen is 2011's winner of the Evens Prize for Visual Arts. The prize will be awarded before the screening.
