On the coal route, from the mines of Shanxi to the major port of Tianjin, drivers at the wheel of overloaded 100-ton lorries do the journey day and night. Along the road, they encounter prostitutes, corrupt police, garage owners and mechanics. Produced as part of the "State of the World" series initiated by Stéphane Breton and the Musée du Quai Branly, Coal Money is presented by Valérie Mréjen, who is participating throughout the day in the session dedicated to her by the Centre Pompidou.
