69 Positions

15 - 19 Dec 2014

Centre Pompidou, Paris

The event is over

With sexual liberation, nudity, ritual pleasure and the body exhibited and shared, the Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen takes as subject all expressions of the sexual utopia specific to the counter-culture and performances of the Sixties. Starting from these historical sources, she observes our practices and contemporary bodies. In this solo, her body is transformed into a territory of physical experimentation and strange sexual practices, in relation to her surroundings. 69 positions is the first piece in a new cycle of work by the choreographer entitled The Red Pieces. In this series – a contemporary reflection on sexual practices – she examines sexuality close-up and examines the way in which bodies, their actions and their movements produce and change the structures of society.
Some scenes may be disturbing to audiences.
