Herman Diephuis

Inspired by religious paintings of the Renaissance representing the Virgin Mary and child, D'après J.-C. examines the depiction of body language with grace and humour. A man and a woman dressed in tracksuits compose tableaux vivants with gestures and looks of infinite precision. They are filled with a strange beauty, both familiar and quirky. These postures, constantly broken down and reinvented, gradually take over the space and become a dance that is both refined and naïve.
