In the eyes of Wong Ping, born in Hong Kong in1984, the world in which we live today is a strange place. An emerging artist known more for his burlesque and retro animated films in 8 bits, Wong Ping plays with the frontiers of reality to create a world in which twisted desire and moral corruption are the norm. His narrative and images, often sexually explicit, illustrate just how absurd our societies have become. By disguising his objectives, Wong Ping confronts numerous social and political issues, such as gender, the excesses of capitalism, police brutality and the growing tensions between Hong Kong and mainland China.
Screening followed by a discussion between the artist and the curator Yung Ma.
