This exhibition brings together works by major figures in the movement, such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Juan Gris and Fernand Léger, as well as Sonia and Robert Delaunay, alongside artists less familiar to the Korean public, such as Albert Gleizes, Amédée Ozenfant and Natalia Goncharova. Organised in a chronological layout, the exhibition retraces the emergence, spread and international development of Cubism. Divided into eight sections, it features some 90 paintings and sculptures by over 40 artists, including many major works never before presented in Korea.

A special section titled KOREA FOCUS looks at the role of Paris in the development of modern Korean art in the early 20th century. In exploring the exchanges between Western Cubism and different fields of Korean art – visual art, photography, literature and dance – this section highlights the way in which the “modern vision” born out of Cubism fed the development of Korean modern and contemporary art.

This inaugural exhibition opens on 4 June 2026 and features works from the Centre Pompidou collection, spread across the museum's two main galleries, over 3,000 m² of exhibition space. It was jointly curated by Centre Pompidou Paris and Centre Pompidou Hanwha. With Cubism, a major movement that breathed new life into ways of seeing and representing the world, Centre Pompidou Hanwha has chosen a strong symbol for its opening.
