This polyptych depicts the ideological use of colours.
Ivan Messac is the youngest artist in the Narrative Figuration movement. He was only 24 years old when he painted Les Chieurs, a painting also known under other titles: Les Enfants polychromes and Idéochrome. Each element reproduces a single press image, associating it with a different dominant colour and secondary image. The seventh element combines the image of children with a colour chart and functions like the caption of a work proposing reflection around the ideological classification of colours.
