This canvas contains echoes of the curved motifs that appeared in Keserü's very first works.
Ilona Keserü, a major figure on the post-war Hungarian artistic scene, began to practice abstract painting in the 1960s. ln 1967 she was impressed by the concave and convex shapes of tombstones discovered near Lake Balaton (Hungary) and these lines would run through all her work. ln Reconstruction the undulations are repeated like an increasingly blurred memory of this primary motif. The bright colours emerging from the white background orchestrate a dynamic composition that is organic and profoundly sensual.
