Nu à la vague
1925
    Nu à la vague
1925
Sabbagh painted this picture while he was in Brittany. It mingles his love of nature – described by the artist as a “great, beautiful, tyrannical, seductive, enigmatic mistress” – with the expression of graceful beauty. “His nude women are nymphs: insubstantial divine powers superior to the men around them,” wrote Jean Sabbagh, the painter’s grandson. Today, this painting still emanates a form of robust charm, the hallmark of the artist’s work.
