Lampe Icarus Wing
2010
New-Zealand-based David Trubridge designs his products, created from local, natural materials, with the environment in mind. The wood he uses comes from sustainably managed plantations, while the plastic is separable and recyclable; his pieces are transported as kits or flat-packs. Inspired by Maori culture and Greek legend, the Icarus Wing and Sola lamps offer users a poetic reminder of the dangers of climate change: in its relentless urge to consume, humanity is flying too close to the sun, threatening the environment on which its life depends.
