It was in 1939 that Gino Sarfatti founded Arteluce, which led the way in modern lighting design between 1950 and 1960, gaining an international reputation. Wall Light N° 226 is a contemporary reinterpretation of the candelabrum, recalling Danish designer Poul Kjaerholm’s PK 101 candelabrum, manufactured in 1956. From the chromed steel tube radiates a spiral arrangement of thinner rods supporting the sockets and bulbs. These electrical components, like the wiring, are left entirely visible, as if to insist that montage and assembly too form part of the creative process.
