Intended to promote political and ethical reflection, this museum is a memorial to the victims of human rights violations under the Pinochet regime. The architects made use of the excavations for a new metro station to create a large square, on which they set a twin base housing various services, with a basement below for the reserve collection and a horizontal block above for the exhibition space. Glass cubes “float” in the main space, places of meditation that give onto a wall dedicated to the “disappeared”. The copper mesh that envelops the space can appear transparent or solid, according to the light.
