    Bouteille et verre
1918
ln Laurens' sculpture, emptiness is as important as fullness.
This assemblage is composed of a jumble of slender wooden and metal planes and is best viewed from a single angle, like a relief. Like the Cubist painters, Henri Laurens reconstructs reality through a series of complex planes by shaping, cutting and bending found materials. Through his bold choice of materials, he distorts the viewer' s perception of depth and relief.
