lnfluenced by African and lndian textiles and imbued with pop and punk culture, Du Pasquier blends geometrical and organic forms in her creations.
Designing fabrics in the early 1980s, Nathalie Du Pasquier avoided the concept of style while being in line with the history of decorative art dating back to the late 19th century. Her work on “decorated surfaces'', which she developed with George Sowden, enabled her to combine natural elements and geometrical structures and to rediscover a pictorial dimension. At odds with the “decorated object” the concept of the “decorated surface” forms part of the DNA of the object, endowing it with a hybrid identity.
