Composition
1957
While he is better known today for his writings, Serge Rezvani started out as a painter whose experiments were nourished for a while by Cubism. Asserting itself through its title as a work on construction, this Composition is typical of works of that period: painting that makes play on diaphanous, transparent effects, with overlapping forms. His work then became a plastic representation of his inner self: “What is a painting if not a probe thrust into the obscurity of the being?”
