Cold wind sphere
2012
Olafur Eliasson creates installations that explore natural phenomena and the mechanisms of perception through space, light and colour. Inspired by a model of the atmospheric system and by biomechanical forms, Cold Wind Sphere consists of a sphere of grey glass enclosing three nested, spiral wound layers that recall the structure of DNA, each made up of triangles of glass in different shades of blue. A bulb at the centre produces a radiant and kaleidoscopic play of light.
