ln this asepticised room, three figures examine shining carcasses.
ln this frontal, smooth and graphic composition with its ambiguous framing, juxtapositions humorously reveal the strangeness of the banal. Anonymous figures handle carcasses which resemble female bodies with silky hair. This scene, as mysterious as it is disturbing, questions the relationship with the body and reveals the difficulties we have in confronting the physicalrealities of meat consumption and death. Julie Curtiss draws inspiration from French paintings of the 18th and 19th centuries, the Chicago lmagists and the pop imagery of cartoon strips, manga and illustration.
