An obsessive film lover, Hossein Sabzian tries to impress a bourgeois family by pretending to be filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf. When he is found out, he is taken to court for fraud. Abbas Kiarostami assembles a film crew to reconstruct the events and film Sabzian's trial.
