Papirosen, de G. Solnicki

Presented as part of the “A Look at Argentine Cinema Today” programme, following the work of Lisandro Alonso, the documentary Papirosen shows the director Gastón Solnicki filming his close family over a period of more than ten years. He accumulated 180 hours of film. Superimposing eras, images and sounds, Papirosen follows four generations of the same family, all affected by war, the Second World War, and its tragedy, the Holocaust, about which they never speak. Widely acclaimed even before its selection at the last Berlinale, the film Viola, by Matías Piñeiro, was saluted as one of the most important films of 2012.
