Jérôme Bel

Invited in September 2004 by the Singaporean curator Tang Fu Kuen to undertake a project in Bangkok, Jérôme Bel decided he would try to work with a traditional Thai dancer and met the dancer and choreographer Pichet Klunchun. The encounter gave rise to Pichet klunchun and myself (2005), a sort of theatrical and choreographic documentary exploring the aesthetic and artistic practices of two artists who know nothing about each other but who, despite the wide cultural gulf that separates them, try to discover each other.
