"My work endeavours wholly to reconcile the conditions of self-referential art, whose only anecdote is its own functioning, but which speaks..." (Alocco)
Marcel Alocco is an artist, author and poet who contributed to theorising the Supports/Surfaces movement, which advocated the deconstruction of painting. Particularly influenced in the 1960s by linguistic and semiological developments and by the Fluxus spirit, he invented his "ldeo-grammar", between ideogram and plastic vocabulary. With its enigmatic form repeated on four panels, this work combines Alocco's various influences.
