"My work is entirely concerned with reconciling the conditions of an art that refers to itself, of which the only anecdote is its own functioning, but which has a voice." (Alocco)
Marcel Alocco was particularly marked by the developments of linguistics and semiology and the Fluxus movement in the 1960s and invented his own "ideo-grammar" focussed on the sign and its disappearance. lnvited to create works for the "Arte de Sistemas" exhibition by the Centra de Arte y Comunicación in Buenos Aires, he produced a series of six works titled America. This one is inspired by the geopolitical issues of the time and reflects the artist's critical position.
