The Olympic village was built for the 1982 Asian Games. The complex contained around 500 lodgings. The whole unit was designed as a series of spaces linked together by a network of pedestrian streets, broken up with porches and small squares. Raj Rewal developed complex typologies and introduced combination principles to give each construction qualitative unity. He enriched the domestic architectural vocabulary with a variety of external staircases, accessible terraces and private gardens inspired by traditional cities.
