Apostolos Georgiou's painting explores the human condition, and makes play with references to 1950s Greece, the cinema, Greek traditional painting and the stage area of the theatre. While his main subject is the human being, his people are shown as anonymous outlines without any individual characteristics. This work is one of the first paintings in the series he began in 2012 and is still working on. Georgiou expresses a profound sense of alienation, solitude and humour. He illustrates little tales and speaks of the mythologies of everyday life, revealing existential situations, human vulnerability and weakness.
