Peinture abstraite
1933
After the establishment of the Horthyst regime in 1920, Lajos Tihanyi left Budapest and travelled around Europe. A close friend of Larionov, Tzara, Desnos, Brassaï and Kertész, he painted portraits with Cubo- Expressionist leanings while retaining a figurative element. In the early Thirties he participated in international exhibitions of the Abstraction- Création Group, creating abstract structures that unfolded in a highly architectured space, reminiscent of the biomorphic fluidity of Jean Arp.
