Saida, June 6, 1982, showing camera movements
(Saïda, le 6 juin 1982, montrant les mouvements de la caméra)
2006 - 2009
Akram Zaatari’s work is rooted in the political, social and also intimate history of his country, Lebanon. His videos and photographs often have their starting points in records – diaries, articles, TV or radio news programmes – raising the question of how history is written – how “truths” are both revealed and obscured in the production and circulation of images. Saida, June 6, 1982, showing camera movements is a photographic montage that presents the bombardment of the city of Saida on 6 June 1982, when the Israeli army invaded Lebanon, making visible the very composition of the image.
